General Forum / Medeek GPT for ChatGPT
January 12, 2025, 09:42:11 AM
I wanted to better understand the Hide Edges feature in the Medeek Foundations plugin, but I knew a Google search might lead me down an inefficient path. Since I've found that creating Custom GPTs in ChatGPT can be more effective for focused queries, I decided to create one with the following persona and attributes:

Custom GPT Persona: SketchUp Plugin Specialist (Medeek Designs)
I use SketchUp plugins from Medeek Designs – https://design.medeek.com. The plugin developer provides resources and support through his website, a dedicated forum – https://design.medeek.com/smf/index.php, and on YouTube.

Your role as my Custom GPT is to search all relevant web resources related to Medeek Designs to help me quickly and efficiently answer questions about his SketchUp plugins.

*******

This approach ensures I'm getting precise, context-aware assistance without wasting time on less relevant search results.

Here's a link to the Medeek Designs Sketchup Plugin custom GPT.  You're welcome to try it, but I think a ChatGPT subscription may be required.

Medeek Truss Plugin / Intersecting Gables
December 26, 2024, 08:11:25 AM
Firstly, I'd like to express my gratitude to the Medeek Team for developing such an impressive suite of plugins. The sheer range of resources available for foundations, slabs, walls, floors, and trusses is remarkable. I've watched several YouTube training videos and even imported custom siding textures to match the color of our existing house, which has been a great experience.

Most recently, I've been working on designing a new shed. Everything has been going smoothly until I encountered some challenges with a portion of the roof where two gables intersect at a 90-degree angle. I've had some success using the trim and extend tools after inserting perpendicular Fink truss runs, but this method doesn't produce the necessary valley or hip trusses.

I'd greatly appreciate any advice on how to approach this seemingly straightforward yet puzzling issue. Thank you once again for your dedication and effort in maintaining these invaluable tools!
