Medeek Truss Plugin / Missing Roof Elements

A few Observations/Request:

The Rafter Tools have several missing tool elements or functions, and seem to be lagging behind in developement as compaired to the truss functions.  The following opbserations apply mostly to Rafters, and a few to Both Rafters and Truss.

a. Celings: When you enable Ceiling Joist, Missing Gypsum Ceiling and Insulation so currently Ceiling has no finish options available 
b. Rafters: Missing Gypsum and Insulation, Vaulted Ceiling would be finsihed with a Gypsum Ceiling and Insulation as well                     
c. Metal Flashing (Roof Edges and Chimneys), this would give the roof edges a finished apperance, currently the sheathing around the perimeter of the roof is visable, maybe your "Custom" option is the best solution for now, but later Chimney Tool would enhance the Extension. Currently I extend the Cladding by 1.5 Inches to overlap the Facia which conceals the sheathing. 
d. Crickets for Chimneys and other slope corrections
e. Trim, Half Round, Cove or other trim thats normally used at the wood member connections that lap or adjoin with a butt joint. Including the Sofit, Rake and transitions to walls.  This would be similair to the Moulding Tool except out side envelope. I attempted to use the moulding tool without success, as it oriented into the wall group with the interior wall.
f. Ridge Vent; Customizations, or additional options to accoult for Cold Roof Design as well as other Roof Cladding Types

These may be on your list and are still in developement for future? If so any timeline of when these elements would be added?

The Gypsum Ceiling and Insulation for both Rafters and Ceiling Joist is something should take prescedence over the other comments and would be the most benifitual now.

I cant say enough about how fantastic this extension is and how much future potential I see in its developement.

- Fixed a minor bug with trapezoid and pentagon windows when utilized with the "No Framing" mode.
- Enabled an option for "zero" start and end wall studs for all wall types.

Nathan, Request Additional Feature to assign a Weight to materials to Complement the Volume used in the Estimator. This would require various units of measure to aid in calculating Dead Loads and possibly add a Space Utilization Selection for Design Loads in the future.  The BIM extensions would need to be sync'ed with each other for the calculation. Also the Volumes does'nt account for Sheet Goods, and Thier Quantity, this would be benifitual as well in the Estimator for a BOM. This is a tall order and would require a substainual effort:

Initially, Add or Assign a Weight Unit in the Estimator by Material, Custom Materials would need a means to add a weight assignemnt for a Custom Material, when exported in Excel the user could calculate the Load Paths manually, this would add a substaintual capibility to the extention and is a good starting point. 

Future; Add Text in Model for the Dead Load thats at the Load Path Bearing Point, from rafters to studs to joist to the foundation this would be the initial effort and would be a viisual que to Loads for sizing Various Elements in the Model 

Extended Future: Add a Space Utilization Selection Option with Design Load Parameters-Live Load-Dead Load, including Finshed verus unfinished Attic Spaces, Ceiling Joist verus Floor Joist, Bed Room, Living Rooms, Equipment Loading etc that aligns with the IRC standard 

You've most likley already considered these enhancements given your current path and progression of the BIM platform, I dont want to seem too needy, just want to contribute to the progression and eventual end state of the Extention.

Nathan, request an Additional Feature to account for other walls types, the wall extension under Global Settings-Walls-Wall Framing Settings Includes: “Yes, No, 2D, CMU” request an additional Selection be added to account for Mass Walls:  including “Concrete, Adobe and PISE-Rammed Earth and Possibly Custom Wall” along with Bond Beam-Tie Beam that are located at each story, these are similar to your Strip Footing Tool located in the Foundation Extension.   

With Masonry Walls Types comes several additional Features Under Global Settings-Doors and Windows Settings: Add: Lintels   
I can send a few Sketchup Models to Illustrate these additional Construction Types if needed.

Any consideration for adding these enhancements would be greatly appreciated

Nathan, Do you have a release date for the Floor Plugin?  Even a Beta Release would be a good way to feild this additional tool.

Nathan, Have you given any consideration to adding a Grade Beam with Caged Rebar?  This would allow for a stout foundation to support Mass Wall Construction (PISE, Rammed Earth), walls can range from 12" to 36" Thick and requires a Solid Foundation to Carry the load. The Grade beam is also used in poor and expansive soils with Peirs. The additional tool would include size and number of longitudinal reinforcements, length, number and spacing of stirrups. The number and size of top, bottom and extra reinforcements, lap length and placement, spacers, hooks and clear reinforcement cover as options.  Your Foundation Extension could be modified to include the Grade Beam under the "Strip Footing Tool" by adding the Top Rebar, Side Rebar and Sturrips function along with Number of Rebar Options for Each. This would greatly Enhance the Extension for Other Types of Construction and Soil Types. Also have are you familiar with a "Rubble Trench Foundation"? This is a foundation thats a good alternative to a massive concrete foundation, this would save on materials and reduce the carbon foot print.  Any consideration for Expanding the Extension to include a Plinth and or a Grade Beam would be Great.

Thier are quite a few authors for PISE "Pneumatically Stabilized Earth", Rammed Earth, if your interested I can send a few book referances and a wall Detail in Sketchup showing the construction.
