General Forum / Future of Medeek Plugins
November 17, 2022, 02:55:27 AM
I am checking in on what's expected with the Medeek plugins. The last time there was an update in the wall plugin was two months ago, and the others even longer. I want to ensure that they will continue developing because I use them extensively. Also, is the floor plugin going to be released soon? I rely on the plugins for my work, so I want a better idea of the plans for their continued development. Thank you!

Medeek Wall Plugin / Door and window 2D and dimensions
December 31, 2021, 05:24:21 AM
Currently, the 2D for windows and doors is on [all_dim1_unit_size] and is the UNIT SIZE. The wall tools measurements on [wall_dim3_item_num] are given as the ROUGH OPENING, as is the 2D graphic on [wall_symbol].

I would like the option to have all of the references to be ROUGH OPENING but also have the option for these layers to display the UNIT SIZE instead. It happens to be the way one of my main builders wants the information.

Also, is it possible on the dimensions tag [wall_dim3_item_num] to have the dimension to be to center of window?

And just one more idea, how about adding dimensions for the window bottom and top? To complicate things the top and bottom measurements would also have the option for top and bottom of the UNIT or for ROUGH OPENING.  :D

General Forum / Components and Medeek plugins
April 08, 2021, 03:42:59 AM
Would there be any issues with the way the plug-ins work to nest them inside of a component and reuse that component throughout a model? For instance, create a spread footer and pier, put it inside a component, and use it in multiple places. Then, if I need to make changes, I only have to edit that one footer, and not the others.

I'm finding I often am editing one element at a time which can be time-consuming and this may help. I know for walls, trusses, and other things that elements this would not work, but maybe it would for posts, beams, spread footers, switches, lights, and other elements typically installed one at a time. I could see doing this with light and switches in the electrical plug-in, so if the client changes to Decura switch style for instance I don't need to edit 30 switches one at a time.

I could try but I also don't know if I won't find out the consequences of doing that later on and I would have a lot of things to fix in the model. I have noticed that some Medeek items are already components and some are just groups, and I could see how nesting them in components and making more instances of those items could cause issues.

*On my wish list of additions to the plug-ins is the ability to edit multiple items at once. I am working on a 4000sf home right now with many walls and other features, and when I have to change something like the siding color or trim on a door, I have to do this one at a time, and there is a chance I would have to do it all again. I would love to be able to select multiple similar items at a time and have an "edit multiple" that lets the users edit properties that are shared between those items.

Medeek Wall Plugin / Partially see through walls
March 18, 2021, 06:51:23 AM
I am trying different tools for rendering, from SketchUpFx, Podium, etc. Often the studs are coming through in the render, like with SketchUp FX just like they do in model. I mean the from a distant view you can see the outline of some of the framing through the siding or gypsum layers. Is there ny way to stop this or control their visibility? I have used 3d no-framing and that works, but that is a global setting for the model so if I go to a framing scene or something I lose the details I need.
