General Forum / Re: Future of Medeek Plugins
February 24, 2023, 04:21:37 AM
Gotcha, so sorry to hear that, I hope you are recovering well. Keep up the good work! I along with many others are excited for the floor plugin!  ;D

BTW, with SU 2023 released, do you expect to have any issues with Medeek being compatible?

General Forum / Future of Medeek Plugins
November 17, 2022, 02:55:27 AM
I am checking in on what's expected with the Medeek plugins. The last time there was an update in the wall plugin was two months ago, and the others even longer. I want to ensure that they will continue developing because I use them extensively. Also, is the floor plugin going to be released soon? I rely on the plugins for my work, so I want a better idea of the plans for their continued development. Thank you!

Just checking in about any expected issues with the Medeek Plug-ins and the new release of SketchUp 2022?

Medeek Wall Plugin / Door and window 2D and dimensions
December 31, 2021, 05:24:21 AM
Currently, the 2D for windows and doors is on [all_dim1_unit_size] and is the UNIT SIZE. The wall tools measurements on [wall_dim3_item_num] are given as the ROUGH OPENING, as is the 2D graphic on [wall_symbol].

I would like the option to have all of the references to be ROUGH OPENING but also have the option for these layers to display the UNIT SIZE instead. It happens to be the way one of my main builders wants the information.

Also, is it possible on the dimensions tag [wall_dim3_item_num] to have the dimension to be to center of window?

And just one more idea, how about adding dimensions for the window bottom and top? To complicate things the top and bottom measurements would also have the option for top and bottom of the UNIT or for ROUGH OPENING.  :D

General Forum / Re: Components and Medeek plugins

So far no issues but I have only tried to use it with nesting footers inside of a component.

The wall copy tool is brilliant, I over looked that tool for far too long!

General Forum / Components and Medeek plugins

Would there be any issues with the way the plug-ins work to nest them inside of a component and reuse that component throughout a model? For instance, create a spread footer and pier, put it inside a component, and use it in multiple places. Then, if I need to make changes, I only have to edit that one footer, and not the others.

I'm finding I often am editing one element at a time which can be time-consuming and this may help. I know for walls, trusses, and other things that elements this would not work, but maybe it would for posts, beams, spread footers, switches, lights, and other elements typically installed one at a time. I could see doing this with light and switches in the electrical plug-in, so if the client changes to Decura switch style for instance I don't need to edit 30 switches one at a time.

I could try but I also don't know if I won't find out the consequences of doing that later on and I would have a lot of things to fix in the model. I have noticed that some Medeek items are already components and some are just groups, and I could see how nesting them in components and making more instances of those items could cause issues.

*On my wish list of additions to the plug-ins is the ability to edit multiple items at once. I am working on a 4000sf home right now with many walls and other features, and when I have to change something like the siding color or trim on a door, I have to do this one at a time, and there is a chance I would have to do it all again. I would love to be able to select multiple similar items at a time and have an "edit multiple" that lets the users edit properties that are shared between those items.

Medeek Wall Plugin / Re: Partially see through walls
April 05, 2021, 04:53:33 AM
Thank you for the update, perfect!!!  :)

But I ran into the issue on one of my latest models with the vertical batten siding, so maybe the same fix can be done for that offset? If not I will use that manual edit tip you posted. Everything I have been working on lately is many walls of different heights and types, and lots of clear story or ballon-framed walls meeting two-story walls, so lining things up is tricky. I am also working towards some more refined models so that I can post on the SU forum as you asked about in one of your other posts, working to do that by 4/15 (I just want them looking good!)

Just checking back because I am getting this issue a lot, is there a way to alter or offset the cladding to line up with adjacent walls?

Medeek Wall Plugin / Re: Using 2D in Scenes
March 25, 2021, 03:37:27 AM
Using parallel projection and top down view, I turned off all the tags except "wall_symbol" and "wall_2d" and that gives a basic floor plan which it nice because you can create a scene for this and not use section cuts.

But there a few things that would need to change to look like a traditional floor plan, like the intersecting line where walls meet and the wall lines through the door opening. I turned on "remove wall lines" in the global settings that removed the intersecting lines where wall meets, but that leaves the 3D view of the walls without the lines it needs.

Is there any tweaks to using the plugin to easily get a traditional 2D floor plan? I have tried a variation of tag visibility, section cut and styles, but haven't gotten it to work yet.

Medeek Wall Plugin / Re: Partially see through walls

Yea, that drives me nuts in SketchUp, something with any thickness should not have edges from below show through....

I tried many things before posting, like turning off the framing layer but it didn't work. I just figured out that the insulation also creates edges inside the wall assembly, so with both of those layers off the lines do not come through the siding or drywall layers. In styles, I turn of profiles and all looks good, so that problem solved!

The only issue that remains is that I have two walls meeting that meet but the bottom plates are at different elevations, the siding texture does not line up. The bottom offset on both is lined up, it's just the texture starts from some other point on the assembly. Could it be changed or an option to have the texture start at the bottom or top of the assembly, so that could be a consistent point between walls that meet that might be different heights?

Medeek Wall Plugin / Partially see through walls
March 18, 2021, 06:51:23 AM
I am trying different tools for rendering, from SketchUpFx, Podium, etc. Often the studs are coming through in the render, like with SketchUp FX just like they do in model. I mean the from a distant view you can see the outline of some of the framing through the siding or gypsum layers. Is there ny way to stop this or control their visibility? I have used 3d no-framing and that works, but that is a global setting for the model so if I go to a framing scene or something I lose the details I need.
