I've got an idea but it would involve two more parameters for horizontally offsetting the start and end of the gypsum.  The advanced options menu will get larger but is it worth the added complexity?

Some kind of way to more easily deal with this scenario would definitely be nice.

I haven't quite worked out all of the kinks when it comes to these intersections of walls (usually an exterior corner where an interior wall ties into them).  I will need give this some more thought.

One could use the subtractive feature to remove the drywall, but that is a cumbersome way to do it in my opinion.

Medeek Wall Plugin / Re: Materials libray sorting
Last post by Medeek - February 23, 2024, 11:23:24 PM
Currently there is no way to sort however, if you really must sort the list you can actually edit the text file that contains the custom materials.  Editing this list can be done with any text editor like Notepad.

The material library config file can be found here:

C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\Medeek\2023\medeek_wall_ext\library_mats

The file is called MATERIAL_LIBRARY.txt

Just be sure to leave a carriage return after the final material in the list so in case you add any new materials the plugin adds the new material to a new line.

Yes, you can adjust the numbers (name of the material) to your liking and create an unlimited number of variations of a board and batten siding.

It was brought to my attention that when using a metric template the 3D materials cause SketchUp to crash. This is because when using metric units or a metric template the plugin assumes the units configured in the name of the 3D materials is mm and not inches.

If you are using metric you want to define your 3D materials with millimeters and not inches, otherwise you end up with a crash or a very tiny 3D texture which will take forever to draw.

For instance with battens the default material defined is:

battens_12.0_1.5_0.75

To setup a comparable board and batten material for metric one would create a material with the following name (notice how I've converted the numbers to mm from inches):

battens_300_38_19

When the plugin is in metric mode it will assume these numbers are in (mm) and not inches. Please be aware of this.

For example with shiplap try creating a material named:

shiplap_197_19

For a 3D lap siding try:

lap_178
