General Forum / Settings Migration from 2023 to 2024
April 15, 2024, 06:09:20 PM
Hi!

Is it possible to copy the extension settings from those used in Sketchup 2023 to 2024? Where are the settings files / data stored?

I am trying to avoid having to go thru every settings to make sure I have all the same options set.

Same for materials that I created.

Medeek Wall Plugin / Re: Overlapping Drywall Handling
February 27, 2024, 02:42:31 PM
I was more thinking along the lines of a clean up tool for drywall kind of similar to the Trim tools where a user would select the relevant walls where the tool would find the overlapping portions of drywall and then automatically remove such overlaps.

Most likely upon regeneration of the wall, these changes could be lost but having to repeat this step to quickly clean up the overlap I think would be fine. At least way simpler than having to manually edit the geometry.

This would avoid the added complexity in the Advanced panel.

Some kind of way to more easily deal with this scenario would definitely be nice.

Thanks for pointing me to this video. That was very useful.

Hi!

Some of the wall cladding materials like the "battens_12.0_1.5_0.75" result in more complex geometry being created. Are these user editable? Ie. Could I create variations of these that would result in different geometry being generated when selecting that option?

Thank you. I had completely overlooked that tool which I guess was hiding in plane sigh  :o

Medeek Wall Plugin / Overlapping Drywall Handling

How do you recommend handling overlapping drywall in situations as shown in the included image?

Obviously I could edit the geometry to remove the overlapping part but is there a more efficient way to handle this where a Regen of the wall would not undo this.

Did you manage to get around to adding an option to display doors in their open or closed states?

A global and wall parameter property would be ideal.

I am aware of the Opening Tool which appears to give the ability to easily change door orientation and style but not sure on how to control showing a door as Open.

Is there an option to display doors in their open state?

I can obviously rotate the doors manually but regening any of those openings resets those doors.

As per the title, is it possible to edit portions of a complex roof.

For example, what if I wanted to increase the height of 65D and lower 65N or change the pitch of some individual roof section.

How would I go about doing that?

Medeek Wall Plugin / Declining Wall

I know that we have the option to create a Inclined Wall which is nice. However, how would I go about create a declining wall?

For instance, I am trying to have a wall match the angle of some stairs.

Sorry about the late reply but I believe the issue was resolved by updating to the newer version of Sketchup.

Medeek Truss Plugin / Timber Truss Creation Bug
September 01, 2023, 03:13:50 PM
Hi!

When creating a Timber truss, the plugin keeps poping up new windows.

I am using Sketchup 23.0.419 on Windows 11 and Medeek Truss 3.3.0.

Here is a link to video of the issue

Medeek Wall Plugin / 22" Exterior Wall Framing
September 01, 2023, 01:47:11 PM
Is it possible to draw a wall that spans two floors where it would also show the additional structural framing parts of it?

In this particular case, we are talking about the wall of a great room with exposed timber trusses and large window in this wall.

Each of the floors are 10ft with 2" between them so 22" wall.
